In 1980 a counselor beheaded a mother in front of her little son Jason on the shores of Crystal Lake. Thirty years later, a group of guys comes to this place to spend the weekend outdoors. After dusk, one of them tells that terrible story in detail near the campfire. He is not taken seriously by his friends until the adult Jason comes out of his hiding place to kill the uninvited guests. A fun weekend turns into a nightmare after a lone traveler, Clay, begins to look for his missing sister Whitney.
