The movie tells about a renowned commander, about battles and fights, which took place not only on the open air, but also in noble lobbies. The Ukrainians led the liberation war from 1648 till 1957 against the Polish noblemen, who built real castles on Ukrainian lands. Bogdan Khmelnistky managed to unite an army, which fought valiantly and had many victories. However, the betrayal of a Crimea khan and the escape of his horde at a crucial moment put Khmelnistky in front of an uneasy choice, burying the hope to end the war in the way he wanted to.
