Hrihory Skovoroda (1722 - 1794) is considered as the first Ukrainian philosopher. After graduating, he traveled to Europe and learned several foreign languages, and in the early 70s of the XVIII century led a vagabond lifestyle. In his declining years, he was a guest at one of his student. It is said that before his death Skovoroda began to dig a hole, saying that this would be his grave. He also asked to write the words on his tombstone: "The world caught me, but did not catch."
