The movie is set in Ukraine in 1918 when the Bolsheviks under General Muravyov march towards Kyiv. However, about four hundred people, three hundred of whom are students, become an obstacle for the army of four thousand. The clash of forces occurs near the Kruty station, and the battle is fierce.
