The main hero, David Motuzka, is a high-minded communist. He returns to his village after the demobilization from the Red Army. There he finds that his old friend supports the kulaks and prosperous peasants. David can’t watch the way socialistic ideals are spoilt on his lands. He begins the fight with the Soviet regime opponents.
