The film takes place after the civil war in the Soviet Union. The four characters are working in the KGB and their task is to protect the national heritage in museums. Particular attention should be paid to the imperial crown, because it is seriously being hunted for, as many emigrants from among the nobles dream to be crowned in Paris and get the highest title of the collapsed empire.
