Yugoslav artist Marina Abramovic calls herself the "grandmother of performance." And she has a good reason for it. Today, in this form of modern art she perhaps has no equals, and for the first time she drew the attention of the art community in 1974. Matthew Akers's documentary tells the story of Marina's preparations to her retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (which became the largest art performance in the history of MoMA). Its visitors could not only see, but also personally participate in the reconstruction of the most iconic and provocative performances by the artist, one of which lasted 736.5 hours (everyone could look straight into the eyes of Abramovich for 30 minutes, resulting in the most unpredictable consequences). Few people will be able to repeat what Marina did. But those who will succeed will understand what it means not only "attend" but also "to be" here and now.
