The world introduced in the film is called Mirabilis, and it depends on the rare metals called "bloodsteel." This precious element is the source of all magical power, but soon it will end. Tesselink hires four "ordinary people" - John, Perfidu, goblin Ber-Lacquer with psychic powers and a young rogue Adric. Together they become Knights of the Bloodsteel, and their main task will be to find the mythical Crucible - the source of "bloodsteel."
