October, 1931. 33-year-old venerated filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein, still a virgin, is traveling through Mexico working on Que viva Mexico, supported by the American Communists followers led by the writer Upton Sinclair. Eisenstein is palling to spend a few days in Guanajuato , a beautiful city of silver mines and visit the famous Museum of the Dead. Lonely and homesick he faces new ways of mythological thinking, far from European traditions. He discovers ideas of the early XX century associated with a myth about a noble savage, a myth about an innocent life, carnal sex beings and death. The discoveries overwhelm him. Eisenstein experience a short love story with his guide, a young and married Mexican historian Palomino Kanedo. Eisenstein spends 10 sensual days in Guanajuato. This experience changes him and plays a key role in his life and film career.
