Seventeen-year-old Veronica Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Tybee Island. It happened three years ago, but her anger still remains, and she alienates herself from her parents and especially from her father. Despite this, she goes to her father for the summer, but their relationships are still far from perfect. Her father is a former pianist, who leads a quiet life in the coastal town. He is working on a painting, which will be displayed in the local church. He believes that the only common interest with his daughter, the music, will help him become closer.
