Beginning in 2012, Kazakh recruits went to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq. More often than not, people had no documents, and a few borders later they ended up with extremists. The main character is Ganibet, who is trying to find her nephews who are missing in Syria. She turns to a specialist, Yerlan Karin, for help.
