The series begin in 52 BC, when Gaius Julius Caesar conquers Gallia after eight years of war, and prepares to return to Rome. Caesar’s niece Atia is anxiously waiting for his return. The patricians are in despair, fearing his return will break the status quo, undermining the well-being they’ve build at the expense of the plebs. In the Senate, the patrician leaders convince Caesar’s old friend, Pompey the Great, that Caesar threatens the prosperity of Rome. At this time, two legionnaires, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo are hatching a plan that may greatly improve their well-being. The closer are Creaser’s legions to Rome, the greater is the tension between soldiers and civilians, approaching the conflict which will change history forever.
