The poem "Marusia Bohuslavka" by Panteleimon Kulish is based on a retelling of folk dumas about a captive girl who was taken into a Turkish harem. She embraced the Islamic faith and even gained the boundless favor and faith of the sultan himself. But Marusia did not forget about her homeland. Although she will never return home, she helps her fellow countrymen: having the keys to the palace, the brave girl frees 700 Ukrainian Cossacks from captivity. The work is adapted into sign language.
