William Ludlow lives in Montana together with his three sons. His middle son Tristan is a skilled hunter. The younger brother Samuel returns home with his girlfriend after he finished studying. Soon they learn about the beginning of war in Europe. The eldest of the sons, Alfred, decides to go to the war and takes Samuel with him.
