A pioneer Vitia Davydov is sent to summer practice at the plant. A head of the practice is a worker, nicknamed Goliaf. He gives a task to Vitia to paint an engine, and then he takes the finished product to his garden. The honest schoolboy returns the engine back to the plant, but Goliaf tries to take it again. In such a way a war between the pioneer and the worker begins.
