Nikolai’s father Razumey is considered the best glassblower in pre-revolutionary Russia, he and his wife die at the factory. Nikolai comes to the factory after the revolution and continues his father's work, and also teaches young people this art. Nikolai’s son becomes the director of the glass factory.
