The war drama Guard 2 is the movie of volunteers who were the first have joined the National Guard after the Maidan events occurring in winter 2014. They go to the East of the country, to the combat zone and form the recon team. A businessman, a shooting champion, a scientist-chemist, a mechanic - they all left their ordinary lives behind. An experienced Afghan War veteran aka Old man is teaching the newcomers the art of the military intelligence. Having found out of the full-scale invasion of the enemy and of the preparation of a terrorist act in the front-line, the unit engages in battle in order to prevent a tragedy and detect the organisers.

The plot of the series, directed by Oleg Sheparev with the support of the Ukrainian National Guard, is based on actual events occurring in 2014-2015. The first part of the film was released in May 2015. It was a joint project of 2+2 TV channel and President Film Ukraine movie company. 1+1 Tv channel announced the filming of the second part in 2016.

The movie cast has undergone changes. Aleksey Gorbunov still plays the Afghan veteran Old man. But the viewers won't be able to see on the screen the movie characters Lieutenant played by Bogdan Yusypchuk and the battalion commander played by Konstantin Shaforenko.
