The mayor of the city Megasaki Kobayashi issued an order, demanding all city dogs to be sent to a huge dump. Atari Kobayashi, a 12-year-old boy, who is under the Mayor’s care, flies to Trash Island in search of his pet. He makes friends with a pack of exiled dogs and goes on a new journey, which changes the fate of the whole district.
