Six infantrymen of the U.S. Armed Forces won the battle for the island of Iwo Jima in 1945. As a token of their victory, they hoisted a flag on Mount Suribachi. The movie describes the real and terrible events of occupying the island. This battle broke the course of military events during the Pacific campaign of the United States and Japan.
