The film is based on a true story of the life of an actress Elisabeth Shue. The action takes place in 1978. Johnny is everyone's favorite and a high school football (oddly enough, it's about soccer) star. His father, Brian, and a younger sister Gracie adore him. And when Johnny dies in a car accident, his family members become depressed. Gracie mourns, since she may have loved her brother more than others. However, the girl's reaction to the tragedy is rather peculiar: Gracie aims to get Johnny’s place in the team, and thus (in truth, a little strange) to honor the memory of her brother. All, however, is not in favor of this idea: the mother is afraid of possible injuries, the father does not want to coach his daughter, and people in the school say that the girl has no right to play in the boys' team. And most importantly, Gracie is a lousy player. But the young lady has much perseverance!
