The film is about the difficult life in a remote Buryat village during Great Patriotic War II. All able-bodied adult men were mobilized to the front. Now ordinary teenagers are responsible for everything instead of men. They have to work for two, to look after little brothers and sisters and help their mothers around the house. And though they want to go to the front, but the problems that occur to them every day turn the lives of children in a feat.
