From the early childhood Marjane dreams of becoming the leader of her people. But her hopes have not come true. After the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the war with Iraq, the internal situation in the country does not contribute to the survival of a freedom-loving nature, as our heroine. Parents send her away from the troubles in Europe, where Marjane learns the taste of real freedom and first love. But at the same time, she longs for home, and understands that in the West, she will always be a stranger.
