Celta de Vigo was founded on August 23, 1923, after the merger of teams "Real Vigo Sporting" and "Real Club Fortuna de Vigo". It is the most famous team of Spain, representing the Galicia region. Fans call the team "Os Celestes" (i.e., in Spanish - "The Sky Blues") because they play in blue and white colors. The very name of the club is of Celtic origin. The main rival of the team is Club Deportivo de La Coruña, with which they compete in the Galician derby. Celta have never won La Liga, as well as the Copa del Rey, although they reached the final three times. In 2002-2003, the club finished in a record 4th position in the championship and even made it to the Champions League, where they tumbled out the 1/16 finals, losing to Arsenal of London.
