In Round 5 of European World Cup qualifying Group F, a match will take place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan: Armenia vs. Hungary. The hosts sit at the bottom of the group with three points, while the visitors are in second place with five points. In October, the teams met at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, where the hosts won 2-0. Throughout the qualifying campaign, the hosts have scored only two goals, with only five other teams showing a less productive attack. At home, the South Caucasus team lost to Portugal 0-5 and defeated Ireland 2-1. In October, Armenia suffered two defeats — in Budapest and Dublin, where they played with ten men from the 52nd minute, losing 0-1. The team failed to score in four of their last five home matches in Yerevan. The visitors drew with Ireland 2-2 at Aviva Stadium, lost to Portugal 2-3, and then salvaged a 2-2 draw in stoppage time in Lisbon. Ferencváros forward Barnabás Varga has scored three goals, while Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has contributed three goal involvements. Over the past two years, Hungary has won only one official away match but still maintains a chance for direct qualification to the World Cup.
