Ahmed ibn Fahdlan, a refined aristocrat and a poet, as punishment for love, went as an envoy of the civilized East to the barbaric North, to the wild and untamed Vikings. These brave soldiers were preparing to march against the mysterious tribe of Corpse Eaters that devastates villages and leaves behind a pile of human skeletons. According to the ancient legend, only thirteen warriors can defeat the brutalized enemy. But to make the prophecy fulfil, one of the brave souls has to be a stranger. For a happy accident or a sinister fate, a former poet is now the thirteenth warrior who takes up arms and goes there, where even the fearless Vikings fall silent, not to accidentally call their fear by name.
