A terrible murder is committed in Baltimore. A mother and a daughter die. The girl’s body is found in the chimney neck, and the mother’s head was cut off with a razor. The murderer left through the window, locked with a nail, which was sawed in half and wasn’t a real lock. The murder is copied from one of the novels of Edgar Allan Poe – a father of modern detective novels. The next murder corresponded to another Poe’s story. The murderer also left a hint for the next crime. The police decided to apply to the author hoping that his morbid imagination will help disclose the crimes and stop the maniac.
