The movie centers on a widower and a single father Jim Grant, former Weathermen activist, wanted for bank robbery and a murder. He has been hiding from the FBI in the guise of a lawyer for 30 years. After his identity was revealed by a young reporter Ben Shepard, Grant is forced to go on the run. He has to find his ex Mimi, who can clear his name before the FBI get him. Otherwise, he will lose everything, including his 11-year-old daughter Isabel.
