In an apartment in Copenhagen, three mummified corpses are found sitting at a table. Special Department Q, which deals with old unsolved crimes, starts to investigate the case. The trail leads Detectives Assad and Mørck to a long-abandoned women's institution on an island where immoral ladies were previously exiled.
