The film introduces several close friends who arrive in the Polish capital at the height of the uprising. Stefan works at the Wedel Company and constantly endures humiliation by the Germans, dreaming of revenge. He soon joins the Home Army and meets the impressionable Biedronka, with whom he experiences his first love.
