The year is 1994. After the Rwandan president's plane is shot down in Kigali, clashes break out between the Tutsi and Hutu tribes. Within 100 days, about a million people are killed by extremists. Anna, a Polish ornithologist who traveled to Africa to study the declining vulture populations in Rwanda, witnesses these events. When the genocide begins, the Polish woman saves from death a young girl from the Tutsi tribe, Claudine, the daughter of her co-worker. Anna helps the rescued girl leave for Poland. After arriving, the women try to forget the nightmare, but they are unable to enter the routine of everyday life...
