An elderly married couple live out the rest of their lives in an abandoned rural area in the exclusion zone — near Chornobyl. One day they quarrel and decide not to talk to each other anymore. They live next door to each other, with a fence and an old apple tree between them, and the only way of communication between the two people is a rusty mail kettle.
