In 1994, the bodies of two twins were found in a summer house outside of town. The children had been brutally murdered, and evidence pointed to several students. However, the investigation was halted when a local hermit pleaded guilty. Twenty years later, the case comes to the attention of Mørck, who is convinced that something is wrong.
