The film is based on the life story of Wladyslaw Szpilman, a talented Polish musician of Jewish origin. After the Nazi occupation of Poland, the lives of all Jews are threatened. The Warsaw ghetto, created for the purpose of total control, becomes a forced refuge for thousands of destitute people.
