September 2014, Donetsk airport. For the fourth month, the Ukrainian military repels opponents’ attacks, who are seeking to get one of the key points for the troops’ basing and transferring. A group of young soldiers gathered from volunteers comes here for a two-week duty. They study, participate in battles, communicate with each other and with a local psychologist in an attempt to formulate their attitude towards the conflict and people.
The military drama Cyborg — is an emblematic Ukrainian movie, which deals with the events that really took place in Donbass. The movie, on which the Ukrainian State Film Agency had high hopes, was created by director Akhtem Seitablayev according to the original script by Natalia Vorozhbit. The movie received high audience ratings — 9.1 out of 10 according to IMDb.
1.8 million dollars were allocated on the production of the movie Cyborg — the most impressive budget in the history of the national cinema. The movie won the competitive selection of Ukrainian State Film Agency, and half of the cost was paid by public funds. The movie has collected over 22.2 million hryvnias for 8 weeks — a record amount for domestic movies in the Ukrainian box office.
