The film tells about the life of a pilot Ivan Dodoka, who was captured by fascists during the Second World War. By lucky chance, he managed to escape. When he returns to his homeland he becomes an enemy of the people and gets into the Stalin camp. He went from the Hero of the Soviet Union to the prisoner of the GULAG, who was able to find the strength to break free.
