Football appeared in Valencia somewhat later than Barcelona and Madrid. The oldest club in the city, which still exists today, is Levante, founded in 1909. In March 1919. A few fans of the new game decided to set up a football team. On March 5, they applied for registration, and on March 18, 1919 (the official date of foundation of the club), the city authorities documented the creation of the club.
Valencia are considered a member of the G-14 group of leading clubs in European soccer. The Bats are the third most popular club in Spain after Barcelona and Real Madrid. Also, Valencia are one of the largest clubs in the world in terms of the number of fans with registered subscriber tickets. A total of 50,000 fans of the club officially hold season tickets, and another 20,000 season ticket holders are on the waiting list.
