Captain America
Stephen "Steve" Rogers is a superhero of the Marvel Comics universe, known as Captain America. He was born on July 4, 1920, in New York City, in a family of Irish immigrants. The hero's parents died when Steve was a child. During his childhood, due to the boy's poor health, he was constantly the object of derision and bullying by his peers. In the pre-war years, Steve was a simple art student. At the beginning of World War II, he tried to get into the ranks of the U.S. Army but was rejected because of his poor physical shape. At the same time, Abraham Erskine, a U.S. Army officer, was looking for test subjects for a top-secret government project to create physically tough and strong fighters. Steve accepts the invitation and becomes the first volunteer for the Resurgence operation. After injecting him with a special serum and irradiating him with Vita rays, Rogers is transformed into a super-soldier and gains incredible abilities. After a German spy kills Erskine, Steve pledges to devote his life to the destruction of America's enemies, thus earning his legendary nickname, the "Captain America". Rogers wears a particularly rugged suit painted in the colors of the U.S. flag. Franklin Roosevelt officially gave the Captain a shield in the shape of a disk, which later served as the hero's protection and weapon. He fought the Nazis and Japanese imperialists, met Nikola Tesla, and saved Roosevelt from the insane Namor during the war. In 1945, while the hero was on a mission, he was thrown by a blast wave into Arctic waters. He fell into anabiosis from hypothermia. But a few decades later, the legendary hero returned and became a member of the Avengers team in the 1960s.
