War Machine

His real name is James Rupert Rhodes, also known by the alias Rhodey. He is a superhero of the Marvel Comics universe born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Asia. He got stuck in the jungle behind enemy lines during a combat operation. There he met Iron Man. They destroyed an enemy missile base and returned to their comrades-in-arms. To thank Warrior for his help, Stark personally visited him in the hospital and offered the hero to join the team. After the end of the Vietnam War, Rhodey accepts Stark's invitation. He becomes his pilot, chief aviation engineer for Stark Industries, and one of his close friends. Because of the actions of the villainous Stein, Stark's company is on the verge of bankruptcy, and Tony becomes addicted to alcohol. Magma takes advantage of his weakness and defeats Tony. And to destroy Magma, Rhodes is forced to wear the Iron Man suit. After a while, Stark asks the Warrior to become the new Iron Man.

Later, James became a member of the West Coast Avengers and took an active part in the Secret War in the Otherworld. He fought the Radioactive Man, the Mandarin, and the Zodiac. Along with the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, they killed the Outriders. Rhodes was one of the survivors when Thanos collected the Infinity Stones and destroyed half the universe.
