The second leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifying round will take place at Lyse Arena in Stavanger, where Viking will face Dinamo Zagreb. The hosts entered European competition at this stage, while the visitors have already made it through two qualifying rounds. The Croatian club previously eliminated Swiss side Thun with results of 1-1 and 3-2, then comfortably defeated Lithuanian side Žalgiris 5-0 and 2-1. The visitors' main attacking players have been Lukas Kačavenda, who has scored three goals, as well as Dion Beljo and Josip Mišić.

Viking recently won the national title for the first time in a long while, but historically has struggled in Europe's premier club competition. In its previous seven campaigns, the Norwegian club failed to advance from any round, while its last home victory in the tournament came back in 1976, when it defeated Czechoslovakian side Baník 2-1. In its most recent home Champions League match in 1992, the Stavanger side played Barcelona to a goalless draw. The hosts will now need to give their all to reverse this historical trend.

Since 2011, Dinamo Zagreb has played in the final qualifying round of the Champions League ten times, successfully reaching the main stage of the tournament on seven occasions. The Croatian side has previously faced Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt at this stage and advanced with results of 0-1 and 4-1. However, the Zagreb side has never won in Norway in five European away matches. The visitors will need to remain disciplined and focus on getting the result to secure a place in the group stage once again.
