The day after the conclusion of the Champions League qualifying playoff round, the league phase draw will take place in Monaco. Thirty-six of the continent's strongest clubs will compete in the main stage of the revamped European competition. Twenty-nine teams have earned direct qualification through their performances in domestic leagues and international tournaments, while the remaining seven spots will go to the winners of the final qualifying round.

All participants have been divided into four pots based on their individual UEFA club coefficients, calculated from their results in recent seasons. Pot 1 includes PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid. Pot 2 features Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Aston Villa, Porto, Manchester United, Club Brugge, Real Betis, and PSV. Feyenoord, Lille, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Shakhtar, and Galatasaray make up Pot 3, while Pot 4 includes Como, Stuttgart, and Lens.

The final composition of the last two pots will be determined immediately after the conclusion of qualifying. The reigning champion automatically goes into Pot 1, while the positions of the other clubs depend on the coefficient rankings. Como occupies a special position: because of its lack of European competition experience, the club received 20% of its national association's overall coefficient. Under the competition regulations, teams will face two opponents from each pot — one match at home and one away. Matches against teams from their own domestic league are completely prohibited, as are encounters with more than two clubs from the same country.
