As part of the first round of the UEFA Conference League league phase, an intriguing match is coming up, in which Romania's Universitatea Craiova will host Spain's Getafe on home soil. The match will take place in Craiova at the Ion Oblemenco Stadium. The Romanian side traditionally performs strongly with the support of its home crowd and is aiming to put up a tight fight against a representative of one of Europe's strongest leagues. Spain's Getafe, back on the European stage, will arrive in Romania as the favorite for the match and intends to take a full three points thanks to its players' higher quality and strict tactical discipline.

The Romanian club, guided by its coaching staff, has prepared very well for the autumn part of the season. In the Romanian league, Universitatea Craiova shows consistent results, posting a convincing 4-0 win over Cluj in its most recent rounds. The hosts are in good form, have a well-drilled core of players, and plan to use home-turf advantage from the first minutes in order to cope with the visitors' early pressing. Getafe enters its European campaign against the backdrop of a very demanding schedule in Spain's La Liga. It began its domestic season with mixed success, running into a personnel shortage in attack and suffering a narrow 0-1 defeat to Real Betis. Nevertheless, José Bordalás's side remains an extremely awkward opponent for any team thanks to its trademark aggressive style, tight defense, and high intensity in duels. The visitors will rely on solidity at the back and quick vertical transitions into attack.

These two sides have never previously met in official UEFA competitions, which turns their first-ever head-to-head duel into a genuine tactical test for both coaches. In such matches, game discipline and the ability to convert a limited number of chances near the opponent's goal become key factors.
