Kick-off on September 28, 2026, at 21:45.

Windsor Park in Belfast will host a second-round Division B UEFA Nations League match: Northern Ireland vs Hungary. The two sides have previously met five times on Northern Irish soil. In 1990 World Cup qualifying, Hungary won 2-1. The hosts have also lost three friendlies to this opponent — twice 0-1 and once 0-2 in 2008. The teams' only draw came in Euro 2016 qualifying.

In the previous Nations League cycle, Northern Ireland finished top of its Division C group and moved up a tier. West Bromwich Albion midfielder Isaac Price made a major contribution to the team's attacking success, being involved in five of its eleven goal-scoring build-ups. In its previous nine home matches, the hosts have lost only to Germany in World Cup qualifying, 0-1. That defeat to the German side was also only the second time since autumn 2023 that the team failed to score at home.

In the 2024/25 Nations League, Hungary finished third in its elite Division A group but failed to hold on to its place in the top tier, losing to Turkey in the play-offs, 0-3 and 1-3. In its last seven away matches under Marco Rossi, the team failed to score only against the Netherlands in Amsterdam, losing 0-4. On the road, Hungary have gone four straight matches unbeaten. Across all four seasons in the Nations League, Hungary has shared the points away from home only twice, with the first such draw coming back in 2018 against Estonia, 3-3.
