Midtjylland made an unsuccessful start to the league phase of the European competition, failing to win either of its first two matches. In the opening round, the team drew 1-1 away to Albanian side Egnatia, then lost 1-0 at home to Belgian club Sint-Truiden. Mike Tullberg's players have encountered considerable difficulties in positional attacks and are vulnerable to their opponents' quick counterattacks. Against the favorites, the hosts will need to impose a physical battle in midfield, avoid positional errors on the flanks, and make the most of their limited set-piece opportunities.

Ajax has had a mixed start to its European campaign, alternating impressive spells with frustrating setbacks. In its opening match, the Amsterdam club lost 2-1 away to Croatian side Hajduk, before comfortably defeating Italian club Atalanta 2-0 at home. The team relies on complete control of possession, wide positioning from its wingers, and aggressive pressing to win the ball back. To claim all three points in Denmark, the visitors will need to dictate the pace, remain focused around their own goal, and make the most of their scoring opportunities.
