This is a cult Soviet film about the events of the Second World War. The action takes place in 1942. Somewhere in Karelia, in the rear of the Soviet troops, there is an anti-aircraft battery installed for the protection of railway junction. Sergeant major Fedot Waskow appeals to the headquarters pressing for change of personnel that became undisciplined passing away the time in carousing with an opposite sex. In response the higher command sends a group of female anti-aircraft gunners. The old scout Waskow hasn’t ever commanded ladies, but all of them, as long as they are dressed in a military uniform, are soldiers for him. One of the girls, by chance, sees two Nazi soldiers. Waskow takes five girls with him, and, reckoning on his military experience and numerical superiority, sets off to intercept the enemy.
