Clint was one of the best exotic animal smugglers in Lake Tahoe county, working for a powerful criminal mastermind and trying to raise his young daughter alone. At one point, the cops came after him and raided him at night, but Clint managed to get away in a van with valuable cargo. But as a result of the police chase, the man flies off the road into a lake and gets arrested, and the contraband disappears into the watery abyss. The policewoman who detained Clint, Meredith Hernandez, the sheriff's department's best cop, adopts the unsupervised child and, together with her mother, tries to give the girl a better life.
