The last year of the war proved to be a year of dramatic change. Germany occupied almost all of the European territory. The position of their adversaries seemed to be at a maximum disadvantage. In the midsummer of that year Allied formations, including a Canadian regiment, landed on the French coast. It was they who were to provide a breakthrough across the front line.
