An 11-year-old boy lives in the small town of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton. He is raised by his beloved grandmother, who believes that death no longer exists. Trying to convince her grandson of this, she tells him about the fascinating adventures of her youth: about how, back in 1927, the residents of this town, by using amazing tricks, managed to defeat Death, who threatened people.
