Born in Bern at the end of World War II, Mosset is often seen as a reflection of the contradictions that shaped the artistic avant-garde in Europe and the United States during the 1960s. He lived and worked in Paris for thirteen years beginning in 1965 before relocating to America. Over the years, he has become an important figure connecting the artistic cultures of both continents.

Olivier Mosset was produced by Museum TV in collaboration with Tamara Films. The documentary was directed by Pierre-Paul Puljiz, a filmmaker whose body of work includes more than twenty film and television productions. Editing was handled by Raphaël Torres, while the soundtrack was composed by Clément Chassin, known for his contributions to a variety of film and television projects.
