La Gacilly
La Gacilly
The 2021 film La Gacilly invites viewers on a pleasant journey to a cozy European commune — La Gacilly. It is located in the north-west of France, in the historic region of Brittany. In 2017, La Gacilly was expanded through the merger with the former communes of La Chapelle-Gaceline and Glénac.
The film was produced by Museum TV. Viewers are introduced to the atmosphere of La Gacilly, which can be felt even from a distance. Every year, the Festival Photo de La Gacilly takes place here, a tradition that began in 2004. The event runs from June to October. Certain streets of the town are decorated with photographs by professional photographers from all over the world. Many of these works can be regarded as true works of art, accessible for everyone to enjoy.
The photographs are also displayed in the Yves Rocher Botanical Garden in La Gacilly, which spans the entire commune and is open to residents and visitors. It can be visited during the warmer months, and entry is free of charge.
One of the key economic features that distinguishes La Gacilly from other places is the presence of the headquarters of the cosmetics company Yves Rocher, known worldwide. Its founder, Yves Rocher, served as mayor of the town for 46 years, and in 2008 he was succeeded in this role by his son Jacques Rocher. The proximity of the cosmetics giant to the botanical garden is no coincidence: one of the goals of its creation in 1975 was to cultivate plants useful for cosmetology.
