The Explorers (2018) is a short documentary film by French filmmakers that introduces audiences to women who are either architects or artists. The main heroines of the project are trying to assert themselves in places that are traditionally considered exclusively male domains. Their work is closely and inseparably connected with male fields of activity and creativity.

Together with them, viewers are taken to construction sites, various public spaces, and even foundries, where the majority of workers are men. These young women, including painters and sculptors, demonstrate their artistic approaches under questioning, friendly, and sometimes mocking gazes.

The documentary The Explorers was produced and distributed by the company Museum. It was directed by Caroline Bechague, known for projects Life for a Party, Drummer!, and One Day I Will Become President. The visuals were handled by Jérôme Kempa, who has produced over twenty documentary works in his career, including Grain of Madness and Lake Grave Under Occupation, among others. The music for the project was provided by Audio Network.

In the English version, the narration was done by Christopher Lee Jan, known in particular for his work on the animated series Mechamato, which was awarded the Tokyo Anime Award. His colleague was Pilar Uribe, familiar to viewers for her work on the animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which received an Annie Award and nominations for the Oscars, Saturn Awards, and others.
